The first Italian project for electric transport in the industrial chemical sector was unveiled in Verona, with Esseco Industrial proudly leading this ambitious transition towards sustainability.
This pioneering initiative, made possible by a detailed technical and economic assessment of routes and full integration with the Group’s intermodal logistics, now allows the transport of raw materials and ADR goods using fully electric trucks — significantly cutting emissions.
At the heart of this new operating model are our production sites: Esseco Italy in San Martino di Trecate and Altair Chemical in Pieve Vergonte and Saline di Volterra. Charging stations powered by green and CO₂-free energy will be installed at these sites, supporting our long-standing logistics partners such as Germani Trasporti and Autotrasporti Burchianti, equipped with electric vehicles supplied by MAN Truck & Bus Italia S.p.A.
The project includes intercompany routes in Piedmont and strategic connections to major intermodal hubs (Busto Arsizio, Segrate) and commercial ports (Piombino, Livorno), creating a more efficient and integrated logistics system.
This marks a true paradigm shift for the sector — and a further concrete step in our ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability, even in one of the hardest-to-abate industries.
