Gold and Bronze in Osaka for ITI OMAR Students: Esseco Stands with Italy’s Young Champions

12 August, 2025

A dream turned into reality on the global stage: Maddalena Ghiselli, Alessio Biscaldi, and Diego Zanotti, students from the “G. OMAR” Technical Institute in Novara, reached the podium at the International Exhibition for Young Inventors (IEYI) during Expo 2025 in Osaka. Their project, MAD 63 AirGuardians, won gold in the Best Inventor Award category and bronze in the Visionary Technology category, ranking among the world’s most promising inventions.

The innovative system was designed to tackle the presence of PFAS and microplastics in air and water, using magnetic nanoparticles, monitoring drones, and artificial intelligence. It’s a solution that blends environmental sustainability with technical vision—showcasing how young minds can truly rise to global challenges.

Esseco Italy is proud to have supported this journey, alongside industrial partners Birla Carbon Italy and SARPOM – Raffineria Padana Olii Minerali. This support goes far beyond sponsorship: it reflects our deep commitment to investing in skills, talent, and technical education in our region.

Standing beside these young innovators means believing in an industrial chemistry that looks to the future, that engages with schools, nurtures ideas, and transforms them into real-world solutions. The Osaka experience is not just a milestone—it’s a launching point for building a strong alliance between business, education, and innovation.

Congratulations to Maddalena, Alessio, and Diego—your success is a source of pride for all of us.
